TRANZX Indoor Trainer - JD111
$189.99
TRANZX is a manufacturer of high end bike components, and produces a range of quality indoor trainers.
The JD111 indoor trainer uses Magnetic resistance allowing it to be smooth and very quiet, it is a great performing, excellent value trainer for those who are serious about stationery trainers. Ideal for working out at home or warm up before a race. The resistance is adjustable via a handlebar mounted lever offering you 6 levels of resistance to recreate real cycling conditions, or levels of intensity for target training.
The JD-111 indoor trainer is suitable for 26" mountain bike wheels fitted with slick tyres (wider than 26 x 1.0), and 700c & 27" road tyres.
A replacement quick release skewer is included allowing you to exchange your lightweight alloy skewer and prevent it from damage when using the trainer.
Features
- Suitability: Fits all road and mountain bikes* (26", 700c & 28") (see notes below)
- Resistance: Extremely Powerful Maganetic, smooth and quiet
- Resistance adjustability: Handlebar mounted; Six position variable-adjust resistance lever (dia: 22.2, 25.4, 26.0 & 31.8mm)
- Construction: 6061-T6 Aluminium
- Weight: 6.9kg
- Colour: Silver
Please note:
If your rear wheel is secured with a nut and not a quick release skewer then it is possible that the tyre will sit too far to the left of the roller and possibly touch the magneto housing. If this is the case you will need to space out the axle on the left side of the frame to centralise the wheel on the roller. Please contact customer services for further information.
Due to the length of the bolt on the adjuster the JD111 trainer is not suitable for use with mountain bikes fitted with 26 x 1.0" slick tyres. The thread is not long enough to correctly position the resistance roller against that size tyre. It is suitable with all other MTB tyre sizes from 26 x 1.25 and larger.

Works well
SamuelCox, Blackburn
Just received mine and set it up. Fairly simple to assemble and seems good quality although this is my first trainer. Not too loud and works well with included wheel block. Recommended

TRANZX - another great product from Torpedo7
AndrewHolmes, CANOWINDRA
Great trainer, at a great (special) price. Noise not an issue if used on carpet, and setup is dead easy. Quick to remove the bike for those sunny-day rides. Very happy

Review after 3 weeks use / 7 h per week.
I have no complaints about the trainer whatsoever: it makes some noise, but unless you live in a monastery it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Resistance ranges from three fifths of bugger all to stand-and-grind (depending on your gearing). Some very minor wear on the roller, but not enough to effect the longevity of the trainer.
Make sure your rear wheel isn't out-of-round! Two of my four bikes were round enough to use on the trainer: if your wheels are oval, slippage is obviously going to be a problem.
Would buy again no problems.

Excellent
LeightonBeer, South Hobart
Sturdy trainer and very easy to set up had it going in about 5 minutes. Little bit louder than expected but bought on a weekly special and exceptionally pleased. It is very easy to unhook the bike which is a bonus and it folds up nice and small for storage. A+ product would definitely recommend.

Solid, flexible indoor trainer
ColinTett, Murwillumbah
Very happy with this trainer. It makes a nice change from the roller trainer, too - especially as it feels much safer to use in a more confined area. ...No more quick involuntary swerves into the wall or skid marks on the carpet while watching the Giro on the TV! It's a pretty quiet machine if you're using slicks and it's adjusted correctly, although on a hard floor it does build up a bit of a hum as speed increases - a bit of old carpet fixed that for me. Dead easy to set up, and folds well for storage. Excellent buy at the price. Thanks again Torpedo7.

Had tried the lower spec model (without the variable resistance) which was not as good. This is the bomb.

Another Great Buy
JamesMollison, Te Puna -Tauranga
On special this is fantastic value. Easy to set up and a great workout. Just make sure you have a sweat towel!! Only bug is that with a cycle computer that operates on the front wheel I have nothing but a stop watch. I would expect someone to come up with a good cost efficient solution to this ? Built into trainer ??

Bargain ;)
MikePage, North Shore
My last spin trainer cost 3 times this much, Low noise ;), "Running a slick 100 + psi". Important not to wind the roller tension up too tight as this can make it a little noisy or if running a treaded tyre, good resistance on the hardest setting. Superb service from T/7 as always ;) spin spin spin ;)

Tranzx JD111
CraigGardiner, Devonport
This trainer was very easy to set up. Good obust frame and parts. Very easy instructions. Does make a bit of noise but just tweaking the level of contact with the tyre can help with that. Great delivery from Torpedo, always know I am getting good quality at a great price and quickly to boot. Highly recommend.

Good product, good deal
EugeneBerryman-Kamp, Lynmore
I bought this on weekly special, works well, just a couple of set up points. My wives mountain bike had a solid rear axle with nut and I was not happy with the fit on the trainer (as explained by T7) so I got a hollow axle fitted by our bike shop ($30) for the QR skewer to go through, fits really well now. Also put a bit of wood under the front well to level the bike as of course the rear wheel is off the ground and my wife felt like she was riding downhill. Finally swapped the MTB tyres for road tyres to smooth the ride and improve traction on the roller, it all works really well now, more than happy!

Great trainer - was very easy to set up and get going in about 15 minutes. Haven't used one before but this seems very good. Can alter the resistance easily and is not too noisy esp if you have a fan going too to keep you cool.....!

First time I've used a trainer, set up instructions were easy to follow. Trainer works well. I purchased a slick tyre and thinner tube for my mountain bike at the same time to use with the trainer.

GrantJohnston, Auckland
Some of the reviews say this is noisy but I don't find it a problem and I use it inside in a villa with bare floorboards. I've had it about 4 months now. Quality is really good. I don't know how they do it for the price. Great value.

Pretty Solid trainer - possibly dodgy resistance adjuster
RobSalvv, Altona Meadows
The instructions are crap, but once set up, you never need them again.
The build quality on my unit seems pretty good. It'll take quite a bit of lateral load so the rear wheel is held quite strongly. I think you're best to use their skewer as it's shaped to fit the clamping arrangement. (I've permanently swapped to their skewer - weight weenies will lament the extra few grams though).
I try to use the least amount of tension that I can get away with on both the clamping mechanism and on the roller wheel friction adjuster. Hopefully this means I'll get a very very long life from the trainer.
The difference between the lowest mag resistance and the highest isn't that much, but I just vary the gear ratio if I feel I need more load and I'm raising my heart rate and a good sweat in no time.
The adjuster which will readily mount onto a variety of different diameter bars, does look a bit dodgy being made of light weight plastic. I'd say, don't enthusiastically wrench it!
One negative is that I found the adjuster cable was quite bent just where it enters the roller unit, so beware when packing it away so as to avoid crimping the adjuster cable, and keep the cable neat.
It's a fairly quiet unit, runs smoothly and seems sturdy enough. I'm happy with it.

hard to beat
nicksaunders, MEREWETHER HEIGHTS
My only gripe is that the variable resistance cable internal connection was dislodged as delivered - fixed in about 10 minutes with a screwdriver - no permanent damage done. I use the trainer with my old hard tail commuter running slicks. Set up is a snack, quality of construction is very good and operation is everything that would be expected from a considerably more expensive unit. In short, unbeatable value for money.

You get what you pay for
DanielTarquinio, Melbourne
Wish I never purchased this item. It sounds like a cow bell when at speed, after a while the mechanism to lock in the bike got stuck and refused to work. Have been using it for a few months now (twice a week) and I wish I spent a little extra on a product that doesn't have do many quality issues. I just hate it! T7 have it cheaper than anywhere else, but it is still a waste of money.

Tranz X Trainer
StevenHatherell, Rockville
It took a little longer to deliver than I thought. May have been due to the floods in SEQLD/NTH NSW. For the price, good value. The highest resistance level was not as high a resistance a I expected. Gave me a good workout and very smooth and noise was low compared to similar trainers used. All round, good value for money.
