TORPEDO7 Single Speed Conversion Kit with Tensioner
$29.99
*Valid until 8am Monday 28th May
This kit makes it simple to ditch your gears and run a single speed set up; without needing to buy a new wheel or modifying your bike frame. It converts geared bikes to single speed and bolts into most vertical dropouts in minutes. The Torpedo7 Single Speed Conversion is designed for Street, Dirt Jump, Trials, or simply for purists that fancy a new challenge - negotiating the same old trails on a single speed bike really separates the men from the boys. The kit includes either a Sprung or Adjustable chain tensioner, alloy spacers, a lock nut and a 16t cog. Choose from the available options displayed in the drop-down box. - The 5.5mm thick aluminium arm of the Adjustable Tensioner tucks up out of harms way and the PU pulley runs on sealed bearings for durability.
- The Sprung tensioner uses a pivoting aluminium arm supported with a strong spring to constantly tension the chain, the chain rolls smoothly and quietly on a single pulley-wheel.
Each option features : - Different width spacers allow for perfect chainline adjustment
- 16 tooth single speed sprocket
- Lock-ring
- Total weight of either system is approximately 195 grams including all hardware
This kit is also suitable for road bikes using an 8, 9 or 10 speed Shimano HG style freehub body.

T7 Single Speed Kit
ReneGenet, Lower Hutt
Works great... installed no prob, spent some time getting alignment correct. Sufficient adjustment rings to do this. Tensioner works fine and have experienced no slippage. Set up with my 34T middle ring off the bike. V happy.

So far so great
FraserRolfe, Palmerston North
Ordered at 2pm, arrived 8am the next day. w00t! I have fitted it to my commuter battleship, so used the largest (48-tooth) front chain ring, plus a 16-tooth out back. The ratio feels perfect for my ~30Km/hr cruising speed. The 100-link chain I got was just long enough, including the extra link. The tensioner needed a couple of washers to shift it across to line up with the front chain ring. In operation, there's no skipping (and I was trying - cleats and all), and it's silent in operation. I'm very happy with it thus far.

T7 single-speed kit
HeathMilligan, Tauranga
The sprung tensioner works OK... but only gives me enough tension to use with my old 8-speed cassette sprockets. The symmetrical shape of the included single sprocket slips immediately under any load. I figured I need a half-link chain and probably the bolt-tightened tensioner. So I also bought the bolt one, but that is too wide to fit against my dropout/hanger's shape! D'oh! So now I have to stick with the old 8-speed cassette on there and the sprung tensioner. At least I can manually shift from 16T to 14T or 18T if I want to by adjusting the sprung tensioner's chainline bar.

Solid
BillN, Wadestown
Seems pretty solid. No install instructions at all, but should be able to figure it out. Can't beat the price.

Buy the other one.....
MarkDouglas, SOUTH MELBOURNE
Firstly I'm a T7 fan, I've always been very satisfied with good quality product at great prices...this one however is not so good.
The cog is just not engineered well enough and slipped on my hub (the standard shimano cassette holding one its supposedly designed for). Was looking forward to some single speed cycling too!

good but not the best
ScottDrohan, HACKETT
I have the adjustable version and its pretty damn good for the money, as long as the qr and bolt are done up really tight it shouldn't slip too much.
