Sometimes getting your lure down to the fish when trolling can be a mission but using a Lead core line makes it easy to not only get down to the desired depth but also get there accurately.
This line is colour coded which is critical when calculating the depth of your lure. For a general rule of thumb (when at trolling speed) for each colour that is out the back of the boat, the line should be down 3ft. ie if 5 colours are out (50m) the lure should be 15ft deep.
To fill the spool of your reel it is ideal to run a backing line first as a base for the leadcore. A Braided line is perfect for this as it is fine and strong.
