Not what I was after
BradVirgo, Templestowe
I'll start off by saying I was in a hurry so that my night rides weren't interrupted, and bought this light a little too hastily without doing much research (other than reading the reviews here) so here's a summary for anyone else in my position. PROS: -Good weight for its size -Good beam projection -Good helmet mounted light -Should be OK for bar mounted riding if on road -Good for visibility, with 3 modes of brightness you can run it on the lowest setting saving batteries but still maintain a bright enough beam to be seen from a fair distance. -Has a battery case rather than a battery pack so you can go with rechargeable or non-rechargeable batteries and easily carry extras
CONS: -Beam spread is only about as good as an average pocket torch. This DOESN'T cut it for night time single track riding when it's mounted to your bars. You'd need two on your bars or a bar and helmet combo to get anything worthwhile. -Design. The bar clamp is clever and can be removed and attached easily but it way bigger than it needs to be. The vertical adjustment on the bar clamp (to point the beam higher or lower) has a hex key screw goes through the clamp with a nut on the end, so you need both tools. This could be a problem if you have a regular bike multi tool where these are both part of the same tool. Battery case is your average super cheap generic case you can get from an electronics store, it's lightweight but has a flimsy tab mechanism to lock it closed which will break over time, along with the case if it gets knocked around too much. The power cord has some connectors made from a stiff plastic so they are a little hard to connect as mentioned in another review.
This review may be a bit harsh but I was looking to replace my old Torpedo 7 branded light - which I unfortunately lost the battery pack for on a recent ride -

Great light
PhilipMcIsaac, Hillcrest -Auckland
I use this helmet mounted with the battery pack in one of my jerseys rear pockets so no problem with the "top heavy" feel mentioned in other reviews. Good for commuting/early morning rides, light up the road a good distance ahead. Other riders have commented on how visible I am and motorists see me coming from further away plus being helmet mounted if traffic is comming in off a side road I can easily turn my head and give them a quick flash to let them know I'm there. I used the bar mount on my .22 rifle scope and have found this light great for pest control around my mates farm so it gets serves a double purpose! I like the fact I can use standard AA batteries and have invested in rechargeable AA's and get around 6 hours on full power. Very happy with this light I've owned more expensive Cateye light s that aren't anywhere nearly as bright. Great value for money especially when on sale. Highly recommended.

BRIGHT!
VipulReddy, CARLINGFORD
I bought these on special and was very impressed with the amount of light output. I usually do early morning rides (4am) and this light can light the road up quite far ahead.
The helmet mount is nice and gentle, however as Fraser below mentioned, I felt very bobble-headed. Its now attached to my handlebars. The casing is nice and strong. Good choice of colors available too!
Only downpoint is it has no sideways visibility. Recommended!

Solid commuting light
FraserRolfe, Palmerston North
I have mine mounted under my handlebar, with the battery pack tucked next to the stem. It means I can flip my bike over to fix the inevitable punctures, and snap a floral shower cap over the light + battery when it's parked out in the rain. Yes - I am just that classy. I did have it mounted on my helmet, but light + battery up there made me feel a little bobble-headed, and having the battery cord running to my pack was a hassle. Hassle is unacceptable on a daily commuter bike.
It's a good beacon on lit roads (without being so bright that it annoys other road users), and lights up darkened bike paths pretty well.
I like that it can run on rechargeable AAs. The FUD and battery recalls with other lights made the Nightpro seem like a more solid choice.
Racers may need something heavier, brighter, and more expensive, but week in, week out during winter, I expect my Nightpro will do just fine.
