The Centaur carbon crank was designed by applying the same construction technology as the Record and Chorus carbon cranks, with a combination of multidirectional and unidirectional carbon fiber layers to achieve light weight and great strength.  The multidirectional carbon comprises the main body of the crank for overall strength while the unidirectional carbon is layered parallel to the lines of the most stress, thus producing a crankarm with exceptional strength and low weight.
