The most noticeable change on the Trinidad A overhead reel series is the shift from classic gold to anodized silver, including a distinctive black and white handle assembly. To compliment the new modern appearance, Shimano has also incorporated a host of new features and upgrades that will once again set the standard for conventional jigging and sportfishing anglers alike.

The A series is now significantly lighter than its predecessor, made possible by a new Magnumlite spoll design. A reduced frame size provides increased performance in a smaller package, without the loss of line capacity. A floating spool design equates to easier winding under load and superior free-spooling capabilities. New cross carbon Dartainium II drag washers continue the tradition of silky smooth yet powerful drags and dual anti-reverse dogs mean that the Trinidad can handle more load and bigger fish than ever before. An E.I. proprietary surface treatment provides one the most resistant and effective anti-corrosion treatments available to any reel today. Other technologies include Super Stopper and Super Free spool.

The Trinidad A series is the complete package well suited to any big Saltwater game pursuits, whether it be jigging, casting or trolling with braided and mono lines.

High Effeciency Gearing (HEG)
HEG consists of not only the gears, but also the frame, setplate, and handle-side sideplate. First we increased the size of the drive gear and the pinion gear to offer increased leverage and power. By using a one-piece frame that incorporates the setplate and adding a one-piece stamped sideplate, we have eliminated flex in the drivetrain that causes normal gears to bind under pressure. By eliminating the flex and increasing the leverage, we are able to provide high-speed retrieves and deliver an incredible amount of torque, while maintaining the smooth, silent retrieve Shimano reels are famous for.

Supper Stopper
Super Stopper uses a one-way, stainless steel roller bearing that eliminates backplay. This provides the angler with instant hooksetting power.

The metal construction showcased in some of our finest reels now appears throughout our line of Metal Series products. Metal frames not only keep moving parts in precise alignment, they also feature the use of the latest anodizing, plating and painting techniques for beautiful and durable finishes.
