How to use a Chain Cleaner

Tools required:

  • Chain Cleaner machine
  • Chain Cleaner fluid
  • Some decent lubrication
  • Cloth or rag to dry chain

We recommend the:

Union Chain Scrubber
Blubike Bio Chain Cleaner
Pedros Syn Lube 60ml

  1. Secure the bike in an upright position, such as a Work stand.
  2. Remove the top cover from the Chain Machine and fill it to the "Fluid Level" mark on the side with Chain Cleaner fluid only. (Image 1)

NOTE: Never use solvents, acetone or alcohol in the Cleaner machine. This will cause the plastic casing of the machine to break down or melt

  1. Pull the black handle out and hook it around the back of the Rear Derailleur cage, allowing you to have one hand free for movements.

** If you are using a joining link supplied by the manufacturer, please follow their instructions to install and re-join the chain.

  1. After the chain has been cleaned, remove the lid from the machine and take it away from the chain. It is a good idea to wash the Cleaner machine out after each use to prolong its life.
  2. Using a lint free cloth or rag, dry the chain completely to remove all Cleaner fluid residues. (Image 5)

  1. After every cleaning operation it is absolutely necessary to lubricate the chain. One drop of oil per roller is recommended for proper lubrication and performance. (Image 6)
